The FIRST woodpecker I have ever seen in the wild! It was very exciting for me. A friend of mine who is quite a birder, and I, went to the Finley National Wildlife Refuge where we found this guy. He was pretty far away and about 90 feet or so up a tree. The image quality isn't anything a dedicated bird photographer would be proud of, but I think it's fine enough. The bird wasn't very large in the frame so that didn't help the lack of detail either. I do look forward to presenting a cleaner image of this species in the future!
